This was Pint of Science 2025
The Pint of Science festival is a three-day event held in May across hundreds of cities worldwide. It brings researchers to local bars, cafes, and other venues to share their latest scientific discoveries in a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. The best part? You can learn about cutting-edge research while enjoying your favorite beverage! The festival aims to deliver fascinating, entertaining, and relevant talks on the latest scientific research in an accessible format that everyone can understand. Whether you’re a science enthusiast or just looking for a fun night out, this festival is the perfect place to indulge your curiosity and learn something new. Plus, you’ll have the opportunity to chat with the researchers directly.
This year, Pint of Science Belgium organized events in Antwerp, Brussels, and Mons from May 19 to 21. VIB partnered with Pint of Science to sponsor the event in Antwerp titled "The Brain's Bumpy Path." VIB-UAntwerp researchers Júlia Faura Llorens and Gonzalo Leguia Fauro both presented at the sold-out event at the Spéciale Belge Taproom, explaining how dementia affects the brain and how the discovery of a tiny microbe is transforming medical research.
VIB-UAntwerp researchers Rafaela Policarpo, Miranda Lastra Osua, and Anne Wienand served as organizing members for the Pint of Science events in Antwerp. The event was a great success, featuring sold-out venues and engaging talks!
